Educational work

An intense educational initiative preceded the appearance of and continues to go hand in hand with Ecoparc de Barcelona. The goal of this activity is to contribute to the creation of a culture of sustainability and the promotion of selective collection among the public.

Ecoparc de Barcelona makes an extra effort to encourage effective separation at source, as this is the basic premise behind the plant's ability to carry out efficient waste management.

A direct relation exists between the degree of public collaboration and degree of knowledge of the processes implemented for different types of waste. For this reason, in addition to circulating information about these processes, it is essential that the public know something about treatment, recovery and recycling plants.

To this end, Ecoparc de Barcelona has been promoting a communications campaign aimed at familiarizing the public with the entire solid waste treatment process. Among the efforts made to inform citizens about our facilities, a programme of guided tours, geared to the type of public, in particular stands out. The educational guided tours in Ecoparc de Barcelona are performed in the framework of environmental education metropolitan known as Sharing the Future. The Evironment Directorate  of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB) has descriptive and educational material from the plant waste metropolitan technicians, general public and schools. AMB is committed to promoting sustainability.

The plant receives national, international, institutional, school, university and group visits. Which is to say, anyone who is interested is welcome to visit the plant and learn about its facilities.

If you wish to visit the plant, contact the Environmental Agency (in Catalan).
